Obituary for Deborah (Debbie) Leanne BOYACHEK (Gilbert)

BOYACHEK (Nee Gilbert) - Deborah "Debbie” Leanne passed away suddenly with family by her side on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the age of 49. Debbie will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her husband Orest, of 28 years; their children Jennifer, Brittney, Michael, and Jill; mother Donna Gilbert; sister Sandy (Gerard) Frison; brother Dale (Teri) Gilbert; sister Wendy (Darryl) Roddy; as well as many other family members, nieces, nephews and friends. Debbie was predeceased by her father Ronald Gilbert. Debbie was born and raised in Regina where she attended Peart and Grant Road Elementary Schools and Campbell Collegiate. She began her career in accounting at SGI, where she worked until 1983 when she left to stay home and raise her children. Debbie was able to apply her accounting background in the start-up of her husband’s small businesses, which led into her 15 year career as Office Manager of Acme Sewer & Industrial Services, co-owned by her husband. It was extremely important for Debbie to be a part of her family’s activities. This was shown by her endless volunteer work, whether it was acting as treasurer of hockey or ringette teams, volunteering countless hours as the central scheduler for the Regina Ringette Association, or just showing her constant support as a dedicated fan. The Regina RIPT ringette team, which she co-coached, will miss her positive attitude as they attend the Western Canadian Ringette Championships later this week. Although Debbie was not your "typical” outdoorswoman, and she did not share the "ideal” relationship with nature’s wild animals, one of her favorite past times was seasonal camping at Duck Mountain Provincial Park. She spent many weekends there as host to numerous family and friends. Weekends at Madge included card games, puzzles, reading, and outdoor activities. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by everyone who’s life she touched. A Celebration of Debbie’s Life will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 at 10:00 am at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Debbie’s name to a charity of choice. An online book of condolences may be signed at www.speersfuneralchapel.com .
