Obituary for Stanley Freeman

Stanley Freeman, 80, of 4671 Cherokee Road, Jonesborough
died Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the residence.
Mr. Freeman was a native of Unicoi County and had lived in both Unicoi and Washington Counties . He was a son of the late George William and Minta Storey Freeman.
Mr. Freeman was an Army veteran of WW II serving in the European Theater. He retired from Hoover Universal in 1990.
Mr. Freeman was a member of the Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by: his parents; his first wife, Gladys “Virgie” Renfro Freeman in 1988; his second wife, Georgia Turner Freeman on 2006; a son-in-law, David Chatman; and a sister, Nellie Mae Masters.

Survivors include: one daughter, Betty Chatman of Jonesborough; two sons, Paul and his wife Katherine Hensley of Travelers Rest, SC, Billy and his wife Beverley Freeman of Unicoi; two step-daughters, Barbara and her husband Blake Gouge of Erwin, and Jamie Turner of Erwin; one step-son, Jack and his wife Charlene Turner of Johnson City; two grandsons, David “Punkin” Chatman of Jonesborough, and Brian Freeman of Raleigh, NC; a great grandson, Trey Chatman of Jonesborough; two sisters, Edith Peters of Jonesborough and Nancy Rogers of Erwin; two brothers, E.J. Freeman of Johnson City and Roy Freeman of Erwin; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to Cindy Saults for her wonderful caregiving of Mr. Freeman.

The funeral service for Stanley Freeman will be conducted at 11 AM
Wednesday, November 5, 2008 in the Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church. Rev. Otis Banks and Rev. Brian Brown will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Bethesda UMC Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the VFW Post # 3382 of Kingsport along with the Tennessee National Guard.
Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Mens Class of the Church, friends from Maple Grove and Gentlemen Jim’s Restaurants.
The family will receive friends at Morris-Baker Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
The family request that memorial gifts be sent to the Embreeville Cove Missionary Baptist Church, 730 Bumpass Cove Road, Erwin, TN 37650
