Doreen M. Duggan, 87, of 4525 Vardy Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, October 5, 2008, following a short illness. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2008, St. Matthews Catholic Church, 2310 1st Ave. NE, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Mark Osterhaus. The family will greet friends from 4 - 8 p.m., Tuesday, October 7, 2008 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with a Vigil Service to begin at 7:00 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Survivors include her children, Marjorie (Gerald) Geers of Marion; Michael (Jackie) Duggan of Cedar Rapids; 6 grandchildren, Mike (Taliegha) Steger, Donna Steger, Angie Steger, Matt Geers, Mark (Amy) Duggan, and Corey (Cherie) Duggan; 9 great-grandchildren, Will & Ruby Steger, Jacob Iossi, McKenna Hemminger, Carson Byrnes, Colby, Josh, Mallory, and Riley Duggan; sisters-in-law, Dorothy O’Brien and Patricia Duggan; and one brother-in-law, Bernard Duggan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; a grandson, Shawn Michael Geers and a brother, Dorrance O’Brien.

Doreen was born August 11, 1921, the daughter of Dorrance and Flora O’Brien, in Ryan, Iowa. She married Lawrence V. Duggan on May 1, 1946. He died on May 6, 1985. Doreen was a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. She loved all of her family, especially her grandchildren. Doreen loved all of the holidays, but especially St. Patrick’s Day and Christmas.
