Obituary for William Rawleigh Smith

William “Bill” Rawleigh Smith, 66, 115 Cedar Park, Gray, Tennessee, passed away suddenly Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at his residence. Mr. Smith was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County. He was born on April 27, 1942. He was the son of the late Harold and Nola Bowman Smith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his only son, Billy Smith; one brother, Richard Smith. He was retired from Tennessee Eastman Company. He was a U.S. Marine veteran. Mr. Smith was of the Christian faith. Survivors include: two daughters, Bunny Blevins of Knoxville, Tennessee and Suesi Buchanan and her husband Chuck of Johnson City; one granddaughter, Callie Blevins of Franklin, Tennessee; one sister, Nancy Gray of Oklahoma; best friend, Ron Street; several nieces and nephews. The funeral service for William “Bill” Rawleigh Smith will be conducted at 11 AM Saturday, October 4, 2008 in the Morris-Baker South Chapel. The committal service will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be: Chuck Buchanan, Ron Street, Tom Kilgore, Mike Fletcher, Doug Carson and Stanley Reedy. The Bristol VFW Honor Guard will accord military honors. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 6 to 8 PM Friday. Daddy was such a fine and loving man.
