Obituary for William Harrison "Bill" Carter

William H. “Bill” Carter, 79, died Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the Johnson City Medical Center. Mr. Carter was a Harlan, KY native and had lived most of his life in Johnson City. He was a son of the late Ewing and Bertha Mae Slusher Carter and was also preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Carter and Bobby Carter and two sisters, Virginia Yose and Jan Rose Brock. Mr. Carter was of the Baptist Faith. He was a painter and was a retired employee of Sherwood Chevrolet. Survivors include his wife, Norma Carroll Carter; one son, William David Carter and his wife Sandy, Johnson City, one sister, Betty Jean White, Ohio; two grandsons, David Wayne Carter and his wife, Kim, Jonesborough and Craig Carter and his wife, Kristine, Johnson City; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Carter, Johnson City and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service for Mr. Carter will be held at 9:30 am Thursday at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Family and friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery. The family expresses a special thanks to Dr. David Freeman, Dr. Randy Hoover and the staff of Christian Care.
