Life Story for Alan Duane Mormann (Mormann)

Dateline Petersburg
Alan Mormann, 58, of Petersburg, IA passed away at his home Thursday, October 3, 2013.
Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 7, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Delaware, Iowa, by Pastor Rev. Donald Krause. Visitation: 3:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Clifton- Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Earlville. Additional visitation, one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will be in St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Cemetery in Petersburg, IA.
Alan was born January 17, 1955 in Petersburg, the son of William and Alvera (Neuhaus) Mormann. Alan attended grade school in Petersburg and graduated from Beckman High School in 1973. On October 22, 1977, he married Peggy Hansel. To this union was born two children, Nathan and Nicole. They later divorced. On June 27, 1987, Alan was united in marriage to Pam Maurer. To this union was born a daughter, Kayla.
Alan worked as a chef for many years in various restaurants in the area. He was well known for the many wedding cakes and bridal flowers he created.
Alan is survived by his wife, Pam Mormann of Petersburg; a son, Nathan (Kelly) Mormann of Soldiers, Grove, WI; daughters, Nicole (Joe) Backes of Elkport, IA and Kayla (Ethan) Neumueller of Oak Harbor, WA; his mother, Alvera Mormann of Petersburg; seven grandchildren; ten siblings, Terry (JoAnn Mormann of Independence, Randy (Carmen) Mormann of Petersburg, Robert (Kim) Mormann of Omaha, NE, Deb (Gary ) Anoestter of Epworth, William (Mary) Mormann of Placid, Bev (John) Nelson of Navrra, FL, Mary (Gerard) Schlegel of Fort Worth,TX, James (Mindy) Mormann of Peoria, IL, Carl (Lisa) Mormann of Dyersville, and Lynn (Kevin) Franzluegger of Omaha, NE; brother and sister-in-law, Mark (Mary) Maurer of Delhi; and father and mother-in-law, Dean and Jean Maurer of Delhi; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Alan was preceded in death by his father, William Mormann; his nephew, Patrick Mormann; and his sister-in-law, Michele Maurer.
A memorial fund has been established in Alan’s memory.
