Wilse was employed by Browning Harvey Ltd. from 1967 until his retirement in 2010. Throughout these years he served for 30 years as president of his local labor union. As an executive member of the Board of Directors of NAPE (Newfoundland Association of Public Employees) he was instrumental in the development of the School Lunch Program.

Wilse’s lifelong commitment to his community was demonstrated through his volunteer actions in the many local organizations such as Boy Scouts, Army Cadets, Minor Hockey, Kinsmen and Lion’s Club.

He was an avid collector of hockey memorabilia and shared his extensive collection with many others in the local area and beyond.

He was a devoted member of the AOTS, Men’s Service Club, United Church, Bishop’s Falls, and enjoyed immensely his membership in the men’s choir of the Memorial United Church, Grand Falls.

Wilse loved the outdoors. This was evidenced throughout his life starting with his trout fishing days as a young boy ,continuing into camping with Madeleine and the boys in the many parks across the province, snowmobiling, ATVing, and berry picking with his friends at the cabin to simple early morning excursions by himself to cast a line out on the pond.

Wilse’s greatest love were “his boys”, Scott, Cory and Monte and his grandchildren who adored their “Poppy”.

He is predeceased by his parents Garland and Ida Stuckless; brother Garland “Butch” Stuckless; sister Shirley Pretty and her husband Lawrence Pretty; sister Marjorie Healey and her husband Edward Healey; and sister June Benson

Wilson leaves to mourn with loving memories his wife Madeleine (nee Foley); his sons:
Scott (Brenda) , Cory (Janice) , Monte (Tamara) of Florida, USA; sisters: Vera Walsh (Tom), Mae Wallace (Bill); brothers: Terry Stuckless (Karen), Gerald Stuckless (Georgina), Larry Stuckless (Albina) ; sister in law Linda Stuckless; brother in law Chess Benson; grandchildren: Sheena, Dakota, Jakob, Tristan, Brett, Max and Jordan; and great grandchildren: Logan, Madison, Katelyn, Isabelle, and Wyatt; as well as a circle of many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, September 4th at 2:00 PM from the Memorial United Church, Church Rd, Grand Falls-Windsor.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Memorial United Church men’s choir, Grand Falls-Windsor.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for all of the love and kindness shown to them during Wilse’s illness and during this time of bereavement.
