I am sorry to hear about the passing of your daughter Elizabeth ...I empathize with your family and loved ones...thank you for posting this letter on fb...I too lost my grandchildren to the state due to my daughters use of drugs and alcohol...I tried to be vigilant and had her in 13 treatment centers, but she either got kicked out or absconded and never finished one program...like your daughter said it started with alcohol and marijuana and then, at age 12 she moved onto cocaine and crystal meth...I am afraid I will get that call one day and it scares me...she chose to leave home before she was a freshman in high school and move in with her so -called friends....our family has all tried to help her, but any money given to her, she would spend on drugs...she has done so much meth that the sheriff said that she probably is "perma-baked" or she has permanent brain damage...I have not seen her since January 2016 and she began to escalate scream and yell at people in our driveway that were not there (she was hallucinating and having delusions)...I tried to get her a detox bed, but the eight beds at crisis triage on division street were full...she had also just left the "praise -a- Lujah cult in Des moine WA....I tried to get the police to do a welfare check to see if she was ok, but they said since she was 33 and adult that there wasn't anything they could do unless they were holding her against her will (and that wasn't the case) ...She lived in this environment praying from 8-4 pm daily and I wasn't allowed to call until after 6pm and then, she had leader services to go over rules, pray, and they would make out the schedule to take turns working the streets and promoting their religion to younger girls and attaining drugs thru prostetution...I finally turned it over to the FBI to get her out when she told me she wanted to leave and go to treatment....she says she has been trying for months for an inpatient bed (she says)....I was a counselor for 20 + years and I couldn't help her quit....Again, she has chose to live in the "friendship house or Lazarus house" in "mt. Vernon and she sends a postcard once every 3-4 months and sunrise services ( a mental health / and drug assessment clinic) calls me every month because my daughter misses her medication and assessment appointments....she is on social security and receives 700 dollars per month.".i know I am continuing to talk about my daughter Nicole, but the stories are very similar to your daughters....Our family continues to pray for her and I pray for your family and the grief and loss process...it does hurt to lose a child (even though she is physically alive)...also, my brother was killed by an intoxicated motorist (high on marijuana and meth)... I was so angry as this "crash" could have been avoided and this was the kids second hit and run.....also, he got only 6 months in prison....the impact sent my brothers car flyin as well as ejecting my brother from hi car....my brother and his friend were coming back after feeding the homeless at the local soup kitchen.."My brother Kelly and his friend Matt were training to become firefighters and did a lot of service and community work...again, thank you for printing your daughters letter....I hope that many read this, especially the kids that are beginning to experiment with alcohol and drugs and think that it will not physically Or physiologically will not hurt them....I tried to help...Again, with my whole family, but she continued to lie, cheat and steal....if she said she needed food or other...I would buy her the food or go with her to get her a hair cut....Anyway, God Bless and may Elizabeth RIP
