Funeral services for Mrs. Patricia Rae Davis, 86, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Laird Funeral Home with Dustin Aguilar officiating. Inurnment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
Mrs. Davis was born on July 31, 1927, in Houston, Texas to the late Thomas Austin Murphy and Ethel Christenson. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 08, 2013, in Nacogdoches.
Patricia grew up in the West University area of Houston. She graduated from Jeff Davis High School and attended the University of Houston. She was a very serious artist and had won awards in Bryan/College Station for her artwork. She also liked to read and photography. She and her husband, D.E. Davis had enjoyed RVing while he was still living. Patricia was adamant about donating blood and had won a watch for giving gallons to the local blood banks.
Patricia is survived by her three sons, Dennis T. Davis and wife, Teresa of Woden, Texas, John B. Davis and wife, Shelley, of Palm Springs Garden, Florida and Shannon L. Davis and wife, Cindy of San Diego, California; two daughters, Mary E. Davis –Aguilar and husband, Joe of Nacogdoches, Texas and Shelley L. Connors of Point Blank, Texas; one sister, Harriet Awapara of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Jennifer Honaker, Aaron Davis, Bryce Blaney and Russell Blaney; as well as other extended family and good friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Eldred “D.E.” Davis, Jr; daughter, Julie K. Davis and brother, Thomas Murphy.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Humane Society of Nacogdoches, PO Box 635030, Nacogdoches, Texas 75963.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013, from 5-7 PM at Laird Funeral Home.
