Thanks Rev. Miller

It was a crucial time in my life. As a teenager in a culture increasingly complacent and hostile to the ways Christ, I found my self being spiritually awaken. The gospel became crystal clear to me. I was a hopeless sinner in desperate need of a savior. I discovered the truth that I had heard since I was a young child: That Jesus died for my sins. I truly believe that Rev. Miller's faithful preaching of the Word of God helped awaken that truth in my heart. While as a typical teenager, I rolled my eyes at words like justification or sanctification, I am now thankful that he courageously taught the doctrines of Christianity and held the scriptures high. Late in my HS years, I sensed a call to ministry in my life. I remember Rev. Miller, who always seemed a bit awkward with teenagers, agreed to meet with me in Lindale mall to tell me about life in the ministry. It always meant a lot that he took time to do that, but also that he was willing to do it on the turf of a teenager. It showed he really cared. Today, I am Rev. Dennis Colton and am trying to faithfully preach the Word of God. I'm thankful for the model Rev. Miller gave us all. While it is a time of mourning, it is also a time of celebration. Paul's words ring true "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day--and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2 Tim 4:7-8 I trust Rev. Miller today is wearing that crown in glory greeted by the one who shed his blood for us and opened the gates of heaven to all who would believe. Thank you Rev. Miller.
