JACKSONVILLE: Funeral services with military honors for William Lamar Smith, 62, will be held Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 11 am at the K.L. Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Center Chapel with the Revs. Josh Smith and Roger Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Jacksonville City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday. Mr. Smith died Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at St. Vincents Hospital in Pell City.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Smith; a daughter, Frankie Dawn (Brian) Williams; two sons, Doyle (Angie) Haynes and Jason (Julie) Haynes; a sister, Penny Smith ; four brothers, Norman Smith, Leon Smith, Randall Smith, and Roger Smith; nine grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Coleman, Rylee, Dalton, Katlyn, Timber, Memphis, and Harbor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Carroll, Nicholas Carroll, Gene Gable, Doyle Haynes, Sr., John Brocksmith, and Tyler Reed.
Mr. Smith was a US Army veteran and proudly served his country in Vietnam receiving several awards including the Bronze Star. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Ollie Smith; a sister, Janie Smith O’Neal; and one brother, Wayne Smith.
