Cheshire-Rita E. Houde, age 91, entered into rest on Friday, June 21, 2013 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Thomas Houde. Rita was born on April 29, 1922 in Offenbach/Main, Germany, daughter of the late William N. and Elisabeth Hannen Seifert.
Rita and Thomas met in Germany near the end of WWII, and soon fell in love. She returned stateside with Tom and was later an Administrative Assistant for the Department of Germanic Studies at Yale University up until her retirement in 1984.
In addition to her husband Thomas, she is also survived by her loving daughter, Danielle Slouf and her husband John, and her cherished grandchildren Kimberly Adams and Michael D. Slouf.
Her Funeral Service will be held at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:30AM. Interment will follow at Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30AM-11:30AM. At the request of the family memorial contributions in Rita’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
