Obituary for Troy Lavelle Daugherty Sr.

Mr. Troy Lavelle Daugherty Sr., 71, of Shaw, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013 with Bro. Robert Haney and Bro. John Chouccoli officiating. Interment will be in Interstate Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Daugherty was born in Bastrop, LA on October ¬26, 1941 to Troy Wardell Daugherty and Mary Wallace Daugherty and was raised in Hamburg AR. He married Helen Hairrell on October 29, 1979. He owned and operated his own grocery store with his father in Hamburg for 10 years and spent many years in sales for 82 Furniture Fair and Mallette Furniture. He was an avid woodworker, he loved to restore and refinish antiques. He was a huge western fan; he loved Waylon, Willie, and collected guns. He loved his church, and was very involved; he taught a bible study class every Sunday Night. He didn’t meet a stranger; he would talk to everyone and enjoyed telling them stories reminiscing about his life.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Wallace; father, Troy Daugherty; and step father, Harry Lauhon.
Mr. Daugherty is survived by his wife, Helen Daugherty of Shaw; sons, Troy Lavelle Daugherty, Jr of Orlando, FL, Ryan Wright Daugherty of Los Angeles, CA; step children, Terry Shive (Connie) of Leland, MS, Lisa Shive Dial of Shaw, MS, Calvin Mullen (Terri) of Thibodeaux, LA; special grandson whom he raised, Jade Dial of Shaw , MS, other grandchildren, Brian Daugherty, Denton Daugherty, Katelyn Daugherty, Blake Pepper, Ronnie Shive, Wesley Shive, Leslie Shive, Lorne Shive, David Mullen, Justin Mullen, Randy Box, and Josh Box; 16 great grandchildren; and brothers, David Daugherty, (Kathy) Charlie Daugherty (Jean) Step brothers, Dale Lauhon, Jerrell Lauhon and Phillip Lauhon.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Shive, Wesley Shive, Randy Box, Joe Mallette, James Pepper, and Michael Clark.
