JACKSONVILLE: Funeral service for Julius Ray Smith, 76, will be Saturday, April 27, 2013 at 4 p.m. at K.L. Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Center Chapel in Jacksonville with Revs. Ricky Hudson and Mark Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at the funeral home from 6-8 pm. Mr. Smith died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Gadsden RMC.

He is survived by his three daughters, Donna (George) Mize , Jr. of Jacksonville; Amy Hicks of Talladega; Vanessa (Gerald Hill) Smith of Ashland and Toni (William) Harrison of Jacksonville; two sons, Tommy (Demeris) Smith and Wayne Smith of Jacksonville; two sisters, Lela Parker and Annie Pearl both of Jacksonville; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Mr. Smith was a native of Centre and a residence of Jacksonville most of his life. He was a member of Community Holiness Church and a former employee of Union Yarn Mill. His special gift was being a handyman and helping his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius “Bud” and Joanne Hudgins Smith; his wife, Ella Ruth Smith and a son-in-law, James Hicks.
