Obituary for Richard Allen Melheim

Richard Allen Melheim was born in St. James, MN, to parents Joseph “Smokey” and Ella (Panzer) Melheim on July 1st, 1952. He went to St. James High School and graduated in 1971. He then resided, worked, and raised his family in St. James. Richard took up hobbies that included gardening, wood shop, carpentry, and cooking for his family and friends. Neighbors in the community could always rely on him to lend a helping hand. Richard took pride in many things, but the most important to him was his family.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Brother, Eugene “Jigs” Melheim, sister Carolyn “Dutch” Petersen. Niece Jenny Gumroyan and nephew Lance Cowell.

Richard is survived by his three sons, Chris (Terri) Melheim or Sleepy Eye, Ryan Melheim of St. James, and Lucas Melheim of Apple Valley. Grandson Derek Melheim of St. James, and Great-Grandson Jonathan Fischer of Jackson. One Brother, Ronnie “Chopper” Melheim of Mountain Lake. Three sisters, Marilyn “Pickles” Thompson of Windom, Diane (Ivan) Englin of Mountain Lake, Mary Jo (Brad) Cowell of St. James and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to friends and loved ones for their condolences and support.
