DONNA JEAN ORY

APRIL 21, 1934 to APRIL 7, 2013


Donna Jean Ory was born on April 21, 1934, in Ellis County Kansas to Charles and Nellie Morton. Donna was the 6th child out of 7 children born to the Morton’s. Donna was preceded in death by her brothers, Forrest (Mickey), Marvin and Melvin Morton and by her sisters Bertha and Zora.


Donna is survived by her younger sister and life-long best-friend and companion, Virginia Norma (GeeGee) Smitherman.


Donna is also survived by her sons, Terry Terrell and his wife Robin who live in Las Vegas Nevada and Tom Beaver and his wife Jackie, from Arvada Colorado, and a daughter, Karen Wilson, whereabouts unknown.


Donna had 3 grand-children, Brianne Potts, Keil Beaver and Kelli Beaver, and is also survived by 5 great-grand-children, Payton Potts, Madison Potts, Conner Potts, Reagan Beaver and Ryann Beaver.


Donna was married to David Lee Ory in Elko Nevada. David passed away on August 16, 1997 in Denver Colorado and was laid to rest at the Fort Logan National Cemetery.


During the marriage of Donna and Dave, Dave was in the United States Army and was stationed in various locations throughout the United States and Europe. Donna followed her husband to many of his duty assignments and lived with him in Germany, Missouri and Georgia.


After Dave retired from the Unites States Army, he and Donna settled in Fort Collins Colorado where both of them enjoyed the majestic beauty of the Rocky Mountains, the clean vibrant air of Colorado and the hustle and bustle of living in a college town. Donna was an avid fan of the Colorado State University Rams and enjoyed listening to them on the radio and watching them on television.


Donna and Dave loved to travel and visited many exciting historical sites in the United States and Europe and enjoyed recanting to their friends all of their experiences, and showing off her vast collection of ceramic whiskey bottles and ceramic owls.


Donna had a great love for her pets, miniature Chihuahua’s, especially Baby and Poo, whom she loved and laughed at every time they would snap and bite Terry and Tom. whenever they were not looking. It was always said that Baby and Poo ate steak while Terry and Tom ate hamburger!



Donna’s health took a turn for the worse and she sold he home and moved to Collinwood Assisted Living Center in Fort Collins, next to where her little sister Gee Gee lived and they were constant companions throughout this time. Later, Donna had to move to the Lemay Health and Rehab facility, across the street from Collinwood Assisted Living, where she received loving, medical care from the staff.


Donna was visited daily at Lemay by Gee Gee and they both spent time talking, watching television and looking at the forest fires west of Fort Collins from her rooms expansive west-side windows.


Donna always loved and took care of her little sister who stood by her side her entire life and was a constant reminder to her of how fragile a family is. Donna used to call Gee Gee, “my little shadow” but would not change a thing about their unwavering love for each other.


Donna’s health rapidly declined and she passed away on April 7, 2013 in the company of the loving, caring staff of Lemay Health and Rehab, she was not alone as she had feared.


Donna may be gone, but shall never be forgotten by those she loved and those who loved her.
