Lawrence Lee Dixon

Age 69, of Plainfield, passed away Friday, March 22, 2013 at Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center with his family at his side. Born February 7, 1944 in Aurora, he was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Alaska. He retired as a firefighter from the Aurora Fire Department with the rank of Lieutenant after 30 years of service. Larry enjoyed restoring cars, traveling, skiing, trains, and spending time with family and friends.

Survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen M. (nee Murphy) Dixon of Plainfield; one son, Scott (Marissa) Dixon of Plainfield; four daughters, Aimee (Jason) Berger of Katy, TX, Melissa (John) FitzGerald of Salt Lake City, UT, Mollie (J. C.) Rojas of Chicago, and Margaret Dixon of Plainfield; six grandchildren, Chandler and Connor Daniel, Alicia and Jacob Dixon, and Matias and Zöe FitzGerald; four sisters, Pam (Steve) Fetzner, Debbie (Ray) Butler, Judee (Keith) Brown, and Janice (Al) Wheeler; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by his parents, Herbert K. and Ruth E. (nee Brennan) Dixon, and his wife's parents, Harold J. and Emma C. (nee Ongenae) Murphy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Mary Immaculate School, Holy Family School, Joliet Catholic Adademy or Joliet Oncology-Hematology Associates Foundation would be appreciated.

Funeral Services for Lawrence Lee Dixon will be Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet, to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield, for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday from 2-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
