Shirley “Mimi” Ann Duvall
June 14, 1935 – March 5, 2013
Shirley Ann Duvall was born in Monroe, Michigan on June 14, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Everett McMullen and the late Violia LaVigne. While in school, Shirley was a track and field star. It was said that she literally ran out of her shoes during a race.
She married Raymond Duvall, and then later married James McBee. Shirley proudly took care of her home and children as a homemaker. She was loved by her community. She helped raise many children in Monroe. Shirley loved her family very much and enjoyed cooking for large family get-togethers. Shirley was very outgoing and took every opportunity to be outdoors hunting, fishing, or camping.
Shirley was strong willed and determined. Even in her later years, she could out work any man. By day she was a whole lot of fun.
Shirley Ann Duvall age 77, a lifelong Monroe resident passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at her home. In addition to her parents; her husband; and her former husband, her passing was preceded by three children: Rex Duvall, Thomas Duvall, and Karen Duvall; two grandchildren: Francis and Josheph Duvall; a great-grandchild: Calub Williams; a great-great-grandchild: Jason Bomia III; a brother: Mike McMullen; two sisters: Carol Clark and Betty Bomia; and three brothers-in-law: Bill Miller, Elwood Bomia, and Bob Wilson
To cherish her memory she leaves behind five sons: Raymond Duvall Jr., Donald “Coco” (Terri) Duvall, Frank (April) Duvall, Randy (Patricia) Duvall, Kenny (Cheryl) Duvall; one daughter: Shirlene “Sissy” (Stu) Stein; one daughter-in-law: Bonnie Duvall; thirty-five grandchildren; sixty-one great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Tay (Joyce) McMullen, Bill (Elaine) McMullen, and Morris (Gladys) McMullen; two sisters: Rosie Wilson and Bertha Miller; a sister-in-law: Theresa McMullen; and a brother-in-law: Henry Clark.
Friends may gather from 2:00pm until 7:00pm, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Merkle Funeral Service, 2442 North Monroe (734) 384-5185. A Celebration of Her Life will follow at 7pm with Rev. Jack Henegar officiating. Cremation will follow.
