Dear Coggins Family
I am the Chairman of the Board of the Swenson Granite Company and Rock of Ages and worked with Frank in granite industry matters. I am pretty sure that I only met Nancy and did not meet any of his other daughters. Frank was a true gentleman in every respect. I first met him when he became a director of the National Building Granite Quarries Association. Thereafter we bought the quarries he owned in Elberton and he was a pleasure to negotiate and work with. He definitely got the better of the deal since about a year or so after we bought them, the Japanese stopped buying granite from America and instead started buying granite from China. Ultimately we sold all the operations we bought in Elberton at less than we had paid for them. We continued to be in touch with Frank from time to time and he never lost his interest in the granite industry which he dearly loved just like he did Elberton, Georgia. He will be missed.
Death is never easy no matter when it happens. My father died at age 59 so you had Frank many more years than I had my Dad. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Kurt Swenson
