Obituary for Mary E. Tolfa (Pelino)

Mary E. Tolfa, 90, of Monaca, passed away Saturday, Jan 19, 2008, in Villa St. Joseph of Baden.

Born May 8, 1917, in Rochester, she was a daughter of the late Dominic and Julia DiCicco Pelino. A former resident of W. Aliquippa, Mary had made her home in Monaca since 1971. She was a member of St John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca, and was her daughter, Julie's lifelong caregiver.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in 1979, and a son, Leo "Butch" Tolfa. The last of her immediate family, she was preceded by a brother, Anthony Giannetti, and three sisters, Elvira Brandy, Yolanda "Yites" Irons and Helen Kral.

She leaves two daughters, Rose Booher and her husband, Jack and Julia Tolfa, all of Monaca; four grandchildren, John (Theresa) Booher, Jr., James Booher, Mary Jo (Stan) Brack and Leo (Amy) Tolfa; 13 great-grandchildren, Beth Ann and her husband Fred, John III, Samantha, Stas', Timmy, Nikki, Emily, Cassie, triplets Nate, Ronnie and Bobby, Hunter and Jacqui, and a good friend and neighbor, Ida Wynn.

Friends will be received Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the SIMPSON FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES, 1119 Washington Ave., Monaca, (724-728-4000), where prayers will be offered on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Monaca.

Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Villa St. Joseph of Baden for the compassionate care Mary received during her stay.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Mary's memory to Villa St. Joseph of Baden, 1030 State Street, Baden, PA 15005.
