Favorite Memories of Mom

I will always have some favorite memories of mom. I do not remember a time that I got up as a kid and she wasn’t already up. I never got up and the light wasn’t on and she would be sitting at the table. I am glad that she had my stepdad (Roland) in her life. Even though he wasn’t in our lives long I know that he brought her great joy in her life. I will always cherish all the times that she came to spend Oklahoma. I remember one time that we went on a float trip down the Illinois River. She, Fluffy and I in a canoe. Pretty good for a woman that had a great fear of water. I remember the summers and trips to oklahoma when we would go camping, or we would go to Arkansas to craft shows, to Texas for flee markets, trips to Wisconsin to visit family and for family reunions. On one of the trips to Oklahoma we were at church. I had, had a strange feeling two weeks before that I was to tell mom if she ever wanted to go down to the front of the church for anything I would go with her. Well you know what I did of course, I didn’t tell her. This one particular Sunday service was about over. I remember because mom was concerned about Ron. The service had an effect on mom. It was about over. I just happened to look over at mom and she was crying. So I asked her if she would like to go down, she could only shake her head. So we went me crying like a baby. That day she made a decision to ask Christ to be her Lord and Savior. I had a job that I was working on. So that afternoon she went with me to work. While we were working she asked if she was going to get baptized would we have to be there at 5:30. That was shocking because she didn’t like to put her face under water. That night we went to church and I watched her be baptized, full emersion. I know now because of that day by asking Christ in her life that one day when I go to Heaven I am going to see mom sitting by a window looking out at the the things going on. She will she me coming and get up and, meet me and welcome me home like she did so many times when I would come home for a visit.
