Letter to the Brennan Ladies

I spent a lot of time at your house when we were kids. I was too early to swim in the pool, but I did get to go on vacation to Alex Bay a few times with all of you! The pop-up trailer we stayed in was an amazing thing to me (it was also pretty amazing to redecorate it for Cat 30+ years later!). We would squish ourselves into one of the side wings and overflow onto the bench for the table, which magically came down and became a bed. Amy, you were a baby, and slept with your parents. Do you even remember any of this?? Pretty soon we would all stop giggling and quiet down and be half asleep, and then...your dad would start to snore. Whoa. I'm talking rattling-the-trailer kind of snoring. Second only to my dad's snoring. Whoa. Not sure if we were awakened by the noise or the vibration, but of course we'd all wake up and start giggling, and then we'd get shushed by your mom. Good times. :) I will always remember your dad as funny and charming and corny and goofy and loving. As someone who never lost his Massachusets accent. Who subscribed to those sci-fy magazines, the stories in which would scare the crap out of me and Cat (in a good way). Who always had a joke and a smile for me every time I saw him, even though he must have thought he had acquired an extra daughter he hadn't planned on (I'm pretty sure your mom thought that!). It was a distinct pleasure to be the recipient of his eye-rolling humor, and a part of your family. Sending you all much love, Phyllis
