Obituary for James Walton Carter

James W. Carter, 85, of Windsor, Missouri, died Wednesday evening, February 22, 2006, at Windsor Healthcare and Rehab. Center, Windsor, Mo.

He was born April 19, 1920, in Louisburg, Kansas, the son of Clarence Walton Carter and Elizabeth E. (Whitaker) Carter. On February 7, 1946, in Paola, Kansas, he married Clarice Mae Lewis, who preceded him in death on December 24, 2002.

Mr. Carter served his country, in the United States Navy for 28 years, and was involved in World War II, the Korean Conflict and in the Vietnam War.

Survivors include 4 sons, James W. Carter, Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii, Thomas C. Carter, Portland, Oregon, William L. Carter, Windsor, Mo., David W. Carter, Salida, Colorado; 2 daughters, Linda C. Batiste, Morgantown, West Virginia, Lisa M. DeMoss, Sedalia, Mo.;
4 grandchildren, Judy Florida, Matthew Carter, Brian Carter, Morgan DeMoss; 2 great-grandchildren, Seth and Evan Florida; a brother, Darrel Carter and his wife, Zilpah, and a sister, Martha Good, all of Louisburg, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. James was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Cecil R. Carter and Wayne Carter; and a sister, Myrtle Nevius

Graveside services will be Saturday, February 25, 11:00 a.m., at the Louisburg Cemetery, Louisburg, Kansas with Rev. Donna Boteau, officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor, Mo.
