Obituary for Clyde Junior Lowe Jr.

Clyde Junior Lowe, Jr., 71, of the Grafton Rd., Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Monongalia General Hospital.Clyde was born in Morgantown on March 27, 1940, a son of Geretha Pearl (Lewis) Lowe Dick of the Tyrone Rd., and the late Clyde Junior Lowe, Sr.Clyde was a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church where he was formerly a Trustee. He was currently attending the Morgantown Church of the Nazarene. He had attended Morgantown High School and West Virginia University where he had many achievements. In 1959, he became a member of the National Guard and was called to active duty in 1962 with the U.S. Army and served during the beginning of the Vietnam War. He was a former employee of the Morgantown Glassware Guild where he was the foreman of the finishing department, a former glass cutter with Seneca Glass Factory, a former coal miner with Blacksville #1 Mine and former Captain and Assistant Chief at the Clinton District Fire Department. He retired from the Morgantown Fire Department with over 20 years of service. He later was a driver with MountainLine Transit Authority in Morgantown, worked in the maintenance department of the Monongalia County Courthouse as a custodian, and served as a court security officer with the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department. Additionally, he was a master electrician and welder. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Wilda Jean Howell Lowe one daughter, Janet Sue Lowe Price and her husband Brian John Price of Morgantown one granddaughter, Endsley Joy Price one brother, Gerald Lee Lowe and his wife Barbara of Brookhaven and one brother-in-law, Chester “Dick” Blosser of the Kingwood Pike. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Clyda Lowe, and a sister, Shirley Jean Lowe Blosser. Clyde Lowe will lie in repose at the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department on Friday, September 2nd, where his family will receive friends from 2-8 PM. Visitation with the family will continue at the fire department on Saturday, Sept. 3rd from 10 AM until the 11 AM funeral service with Pastor Lynn Keener officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Morgantown. Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown is in charge of the arrangements.
