Condolence From: Maureen Fust
Condolence: My only memories of Susan are through Baton Twirling. When my daughter was 3, her coach and entered her in her first contest. It was at this contest that I met Susan. She was incredibly welcoming, and very kind my very tiny twirler. We continued to participate in Susan's and other contests for many years, and Susan's gracious personality never changed. Just this past November 17th, I made my up the highway again with my granddaughter...yes, at 4 she was ready to compete in the State Contest which Susan was directing. Again, the same smile, the same kind greeting that we received over 25 years ago was there. Our grand daughter placed first in two areas, and by Susan's enthusiasm as she awarded her her medals, one would have thought she had won the whole State!! Please know all of our family is incredibly saddened by the loss of such a extraordinary woman, but we are so very glad that in some small way we came to know her. She will be continued to be remembered in our prayers. Maureen Fust

Condolence: Max, Ben, Kelly and the entire Dailey Orr Family - Looking at the pictures on this site brings back a flood of memories - from first grade when Sarah brought home that flyer wanting to learn to twirl after school to the many recitals, to all those lessons at Orchard, twirling at Brebeufm the Macy's Parade when we "stole" Susan from her family so that she could share in the excitement as Sarah, Lauren and Shannon participated in the parade - it was Susan's Super Bowl! And of course to the state contest as Sue and I sat in the back hall doing tabulating. Oh and Susan attending Butler games so that she could see Sarah twirl -- 50 yard line - front row! We loved Susan and thank God that we had the opportunity to have her in our lives. She taught Sarah so many life lessons and is continuing to do so now - A heartfelt thank you for sharing Susan with our family!

Condolence From: Rhonda & Moriah Muscaro and The Twirl-M's
Condolence: Words cannot express how deeply saddened we are at the loss of Susan Orr. We have many special memories of her including visits to Marco Island to take modeling lessons. She was so giving of her time and talents but more importantly so positive in everything! She was uplifing and encouraging to me as a coach, to Moriah as a twirler, and to all of my students who came across her paths as she judged them. She certainly is leaving this world a better place with presence here on Earth. May the love of Jesus Christ wrap His arms around each of you during this most difficult time. We will never forget her. Thank you for sharing her with the Twirl-M's and the entire twirling community!

Condolence From: Jennifer Tanner
Condolence: I remember the day Susan walked into our pool store to ask about their pool in Fiddlers Creek. I had just moved to Naples leaving my friends and found she was from Carmel, Ind., my hometown. I had been in Florida for 35 years and never met anyone from Carmel. She and Max asked my husband, Doug to care for their pool. Each year when they would come to Naples she would always stop by to visit and said "hi". We laughed about many things. I had been a twirler for Carmel High School which made her even more dear to me. We lost touch when we sold our business in 2007 and I had no idea she was ill. My heart goes out to Max and their family. She is with you still and with all of us, I believe in angels and she is certainly watching all of you with her warm smile. God Bless you all. Jennifer Tanner, Naples, Fl. formerly of Doug's Pool Service.

Condolence From: Mary and Alexandra Schwartz
Condolence: We are very, very sorry for the loss of your beautiful Susan. My daughter Alexandra (Alex) from Minnesota is a baton twirler (now twirling for the University of Southern California.) During her elementary through high school years, she loved having Susan as a judge at contests. She was a wonderful judge! With so much style and grace, she took the extra time to kindly offer useful tips to help Alex be a better twirler, modeler, and interviewer. One year Alex purchased a heart baton from Susan, not because she needed another baton, but because she thought it was so cool that Susan came up with the product idea and took the initiative to market and sell it. We still have that special baton on our shelf! Our hearts go out to you. Susan really did make the twirling world a better place!

Condolence: Our deepest sympathies. We are so sad that such a vibrant person has left us far too soon. She was a wonderful supporter of baton twirling and highlighted every positive in being involved in this activity to everyone she met! Her students enjoyed her as their coach but more importantly, viewed her as a role model in their lives. May she rest in peace.

I share the shock of her sudden death and just relive the memories of the past 40 years of twirling in the state of Indiana. My students and I send our love and prayers from the southern part of the state where Susan was such a familiar face with her warm smile and positive attitude at so many many twirling contests.

Condolence From: Gina Hutchinson & The Red Stars
Condolence: There are no words to express how I felt when I got this news on Saturday. Susan and I judged all over the country together. We have had so many great times talking about our love of all things twirling and laughing. She had the best laugh!Ben, Max, and her grandchildren and all who knew her, thankfully, have so many wonderful memories that she will be thought of every day for the rest of their lives. She lived every second to the fullest. All that aside, I join so many others in disbelief and so much sadness that Susan is gone. The beauty of teaching and coaching, however, is that your legacy will live on in your students. What a legacy she gave us all. Gina Branley Hutchinson, Red Stars, Derry, New Hampshire.

Condolence: I was shocked and saddened at the sudden passing of Susan. Her bright smile, and cheery disposition always made her a welcome addition to any event. I have known Susan as a Judge and Coach for more than 40 years and more recently as the inventor of the non slip baton. She was a shining light in the twirling world. Her students loved her and contest directors appreciated her dedication. She will be missed.

As a family we are blessed to have known Frank, Susan and Sharon. The Sherlock's pray for your family's strength and peace in the midst of your loss. We also wanted you to know that our lives were made better through knowing Susan. God Bless you all!

Condolence: I was so very sorry to hear of Susan's sudden passing. I will always remember her heartfelt smile and enthusiasm for whatever she was doing. I followed her home, one very snowy afternoon, from Orchard School. It was about a three hour drive. She was driving her red convertible. We used to joke about that very long trip home. Will miss her. My condolences to her family.
