Obituary for Carl J. "Sonny" Sardo

Carl J. "Sonny"  Sardo
Carl J. “Sonny” Sardo, 76, of Hartford, passed away on Wednesday (September 19, 2012). Born on February 11, 1936 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Sebastian “Johnny” and Sylvia (Cosmini) Sardo. For most of his life he lived in Hartford, he also lived in Old Lyme for many years where he was known as “The Mayor” of Sound View Beach. He served in the U.S. Army. Carl worked as an electrician for IBEW Local 35 for 40 years. He is survived by his children: Laura A. Sardo and her son Jacob of Hartford, John S. Sardo and his wife Kelly and their children, John, Jordan, Michael, Kevin and Sophia all of Glastonbury; and Collette R. Giarratano and her husband Antonino and their children Alexandra and Antonino, of Glastonbury; his brother, Sebastian J. Sardo, Jr. of Hartford; his aunt, Anita Fisher of NJ and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carl also leaves behind his former wife, Collette. Carl will be missed by his many friends, especially his group of friends from the Nutshell and the Arena. Carl made an impression on everyone he met and his presence will be deeply missed. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Sally Coffey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (September 24) at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Ave., Hartford. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
