Obituary for Guy Desjardins

DESJARDINS, GUY
It is with great sadness and yet with joy that we say goodbye to our beloved Guy Desjardins on Thursday, September 20, 2012. Loving husband, father, son, grandfather, brother and friend. He is home where his soul belongs in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Survived by his soul mate and loving wife Brenda (nee Milner), and by his children Bethany, Danielle Prankard,( A.J.), and Nathan. Son of Léo- Paul and Yvonne (deceased) and brother to Gus (Dawn) Desjardins, Françoise (Rick) Court, and Lorraine Desjardins (Phil) . Devoted grandpapa to his treasured Kyler. How blessed are we all to have had such an extraordinary man in our lives! We are better people because of him and will never be the same without him. Guy and his family are grateful for the love and support they received during his well fought battle with cancer. Guy lived an abundant life, full of love, laughter, adventure, sports and extreme courage. He was devoted to his life work in the Information Technology Department at Brock University which was much more than a job to Guy. He loved those he worked with as family and was proud to be part of a team that worked to make the university the best that it could be for staff and students. Guy was affiliated with Welland Minor Hockey and Welland Minor Baseball as coach and trainer. He was a mentor to many young hockey, baseball and Christian Service Brigade youth. He was passionate about his service in the sound ministry and organizing the men’s church hockey league. Guy loved all sports, visiting airshows, practising flying his model plane, travelling with family to the kids sporting events and camping outdoors with his family. Guy lived his live as it ended, with humility, integrity, strength and courage. To the end Guy kept his generous, kind and compassionate spirit and his quirky sense of humour. I will rise when He calls my name, no more sorrow, no more pain, I will rise on eagle’s wings, before my God fall on my knees and rise, I will rise. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME, 179 Clarence St., Port Colborne on Thursday, Sept. 27th from 7p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Friday, Sept. 28th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A service to celebrate Guy’s life will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Bible Church, 3017 Montrose Rd., Niagara Falls at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
