Obituary for William Richard Tice Sr.

William Richard Tice Sr., 63, of New Philadelphia, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Union Hospital at Dover.

A son of Laura (Smart) Tice of Dover and the late Charles Tice, Bill was born December 29, 1948 at Dover, Ohio.

Bill graduated from Tusky Valley High School in 1967 and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

He was an avid mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. Bill was a generous person and was often lending a hand to those in need. One of his greatest passions in life was his grandchildren and spending time with them.

In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Cathy (Snedeker) Tice, whom he married on February 14, 1968; his children, William (Connie) Tice Jr. of New Philadelphia, Robert (Jessica) Tice of Dennison and Robin Tice of New Philadelphia; his grandchildren, Richard Wagers Tice, Trevor Moore, Gabriel and Emily Solis, Ian Tice Clinton and Samantha, Evalynn, Brody and Alex Tice; two step grandsons, Jason and Andrew Hoover; two sisters, Loretta Sayre of Dover and Patricia McDiffit of Mineral City; two brothers, Lester Tice of Dover and Jeff Tice of Canton and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his father; a sister, Beatrice Tice and three brothers, Carl, Paul and Virgil Tice.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation will take place through the care of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia and a his family will host memorial service on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at 5 p.m. in the Bethel Worship Center, 634 North Main Street, Uhrichsville, OH 44683. A meal will follow in the fellowship hall at the church.
