Obituary for Janice Edna Louise "Jan" Crist (Babcock)

CRIST, Janice Edna (nee Babcock)
November 20, 1954 - February 15, 2012

Following a courageous six year battle, our beloved wife and mother Jan, passed away in the presence of her family at the Rockyview General Hospital, on February 15, 2012 at the age of 57 years. Jan, born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, always held family dear. She devoted her life to building a strong supportive network which drew in all who loved her. Jan was the most selfless person ever, family was everything to her, if anyone was in need Jan was the very first to step up and drop anything she was doing- Jan was never idle – she made hearth and home enjoyable for the many moves she and Tom had during their 33 years of loving marriage. She will be lovingly missed by her beloved husband Tom; children Nicky (Corey) Ruud of Regina, Saskatchewan; Dallas (Ashley), Mandy (Marc) Buckner, Robbie all from Calgary, Alberta; her grandchildren - the loves of her life - Kobe, Nicholas, Jagger, Hunter and Riley; and soon to be Thomas, sisters Rae and Gail; brother Dave (Paulette). Jan will also be remembered by many other family members and friends. Jan was predeceased by her parents. A memorial service will be held at Southwood United Church (10690 Elbow Drive SW) on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 1:30 pm. A special thanks to the Doctors and staff at the Tom Baker Cancer center; the Doctors and staff at the Rockyview and Foothills Hospitals, and the Palliative Care team for their compassion and kindness during Jan’s stay. Photos, memories and condolences may be forwarded to the family through www.evanjstrong.com. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (c/o Tom Baker Cancer Center, 1331 - 29 Street, NW, Calgary, AB, T2N 4N2, telephone 1-866-412-4222, www.albertacancer.ca/memorial).
