Thomas J.  Scanlon
LITTLE FALLS-Mr. Thomas J. Scanlon, 54, of Shells Bush Road, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday morning, September 18, 2007 in Faxton/St. Luke?s Healthcare, New Hartford with the support and love of his family by his side. Tom was born in Little Falls on September 5, 1953, the son of the late Kenneth W. and Arleen H. (Hudd) Scanlon and graduated from Little Falls High School. He was last employed by Stark Electric in Herkimer as a electric motor technician and was of the Catholic faith. On June 16, 1979, he was married to Laureen ?Laurie? Stark in St. Joseph?s Church, Herkimer. A beloved husband, father, brother and uncle he was never happier then when surrounded by his family. Tom had a warm smile and wonderful personality that will be missed by all. He was a gentle man and a man of great kindness, strength and courage. In his leisure time, he loved playing the guitar and was an accomplished musician. He leaves his wife Laureen ?Laurie? Scanlon of Little Falls; his beloved son: Ryan T. Scanlon and companion Ashley Gordon of New York City; five brothers and sisters: James M. Scanlon and wife Pearl "Penny", and Joseph D. Scanlon and wife Valerie, Kathleen E. Canastar and husband Thomas, Sharon M. Scanlon, and Theresa M. "Terry" Scanlon, all of Little Falls; and his mother in law: Martha Stark of Herkimer who was very close to Tom. Survivors also include several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, in-laws and many cousins and dear friends. He is also survived by his beloved canine companion, Kalie. He was predeceased by his parents, by a brother K. Patrick Scanlon, and by a sister in law: Joyce Scanlon Bradley. Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, on Friday, September 21, 2007 from 5-8 p.m. Tom?s funeral will commence at 10:15 am on Saturday, Sept. 22nd from the chapel of the funeral home where prayer will be offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes, CSJ and at 11 am from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls, where the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor, will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial.. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer, where he will be laid to rest in the family plot. Kindly consider memorial offerings to Faxton/St. Luke?s Healthcare Rehabilitation Unit; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The family offers their gratitude to the many relatives and friends for the many prayers, acts of kindness and sympathy throughout this unexpected and difficult journey.
