Everett Lee  Echelberry
Everett Lee Echelberry, 98, of Uhrichsville, formerly of New Philadelphia and Newcomerstown, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003 in Twin City Hospital. Born June 13, 1905 in Kimbolton, Guernsey County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Jesse Carlos Eckelberry and Ada Forrest Walters. Mr. Echelberry will be remembered as a man of determination, having taken and passed his fist driver's examination at the age of 97. He was a very social person, having enjoyed memberships in the former New Philadelphia Moose # 926, the Rod and Gun Club, the 11th Street Church of God in Uhrichsville, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Philadelphia for more than 75 years. An avid hunter and fisherman, Mr. Echelberry enjoyed spending time at the cabin he built for his family at Wills Creek Reservoir.Survivors include two daughters, Betty Echelberry of Newcomerstown and Doris (Edward) Gump of New Philadelphia; seven sons, Harold (Esther) Echelberry of Akron, Kenneth (Pam) Echelberry and Leland (Linda) Echelberry, both of Massillon, Ronald Echelberry of New Philadelphia, Perry (Barb) Echelberry of Tippecanoe, O, Nile (Lois) Rhoads of Bowerston, O, Dennis (Debbie) Rhodes of Uhrichsville, O; three sisters, Geraldine Mast, Nancy Lorenz, and Roberta Aquila, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law; Sandy Echelberry of D'Iberville, Mississippi. Everett was preceded in death by his companion of twenty years, Ethel Barber, two wives; the former Edna Henderson Echelberry and Betty Rhodes Echelberry, an infant daughter, Jeanette Echelberry, two sons; Alvin Echelberry and Mark Rhoads.Rev. Earl Miller will officiate funeral services Monday morning at 11 AM in the chapel of the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home, New Philadelphia. Burial will follow at Evergreen Burial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
