Rene Gutierrez, 53, of Kingsland, Texas passed away January 22, 2012. He was born to Javior and Josefina (Ortega) Gutierrez in San Antonio, Texas on May 2, 1958.

Mr. Gutierrez graduated from McArthur High School in San Antonio. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. Rene met the love of his life, Regina Ann Alba in 1978. He loved to bowel, fish in saltwater and freshwater, watch television, and sports. He was a history buff and loved to read war history. Known for his BBQ ribs, he spent his favorite past time being a husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend entertaining and hosting back yard Bar-B-Ques. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Regina Gutierrez, of Kingsland, Texas, daughters, Shana LeeAnn Arteaga, of Kingsland, Texas, Veronica Christina Gutierrez, of Kingsland, Texas, Megan Renee Montano, of Kingsland, Texas, grandchildren, Teffany, Junior, Savannah, Andrew, Adam, Josiah, Nevaeh, Rhett, Josh, and Justin, mother, Josefina Orteaga, of San Antonio, Texas, father, Javior Gutierrez and wife Linda, of Kingsland, Texas, siblings, Norma, Roy, Nora, Nydia, Monique, Tonya, Cheyne, Destiny, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Hector Arteaga, Junior Arteaga, Cheyne Gutierrez, John Montano, Josh Livingston, Bryan Smith, and David Livingston.

A visitation was held 6:00 pm- 8:00 pm Tuesday January 24, 2012 at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland. Funeral services were held 2:00 pm Wednesday January 25, 2012 at Acts in Buchanan Dam, Texas. Interment followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet with the Highland Lakes Honor Guard in charge of military honors.
