Joan A. Hazlett  Stanton

Mrs. Joan A. Stanton, age 80, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on December 20, 1930 in Lamar, Kansas. She was the daughter of Orin R. & Mabel Taliaferro Hazlett. She was raised in Kansas and attended Kansas State University. She was united in marriage on June 4, 1950 to Raymond Stanton. This union was blessed with two daughters and a son. She was employed as a school teacher for six years, then as a school office clerk for 22 years. She resided in Cloud County, Kansas for forty years. After retirement she moved to Madison in 1991. She then went to work at the Clifty Falls State Park a job she dearly loved. she was a member of the First Christian Church in downtown Madison. She enjoyed dancing, bowling, playing bingo, traveling and was a high energy lady. Joan died Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 11:55 p.m. at The Water's of Clifty Falls in Madison, Indiana.

Joan will be missed by her loving husband: Ray Stanton of Madison, Indiana; her loving daughters: Pennie Fleming & her companion, Carter Carl of Madison, Indiana, Jonnie Friedman & her husband, Michael of Baltimore, Maryland; her loving son: Sam Stanton & his wife, Cecilia of Ossining, New York; her loving grandchildren: Matthew Friedman, Nicole Cox & her husband, Brandon, Erin Fleming, Jordan Jones, Cecilia Stanton, Allison Fleming & companion, Jason Taylor, Maria Stanton & Victor Stanton; her adoring great grandchildren: Kerrin Jones & Sammy Stanton; several nieces, nephews & other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orin R. & Mabel Taliaferro Hazlett; her sisters, Dixie Rose and Pat Davenport.
