Mr. Zitoli's funeral will commence at 11:15 am on Saturday, Dec. 8th from the funeral home and at 12 noon from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls where the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial.

LITTLE FALLS-Mr. Alex Zitoli, 88, of Church St., Little Falls, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 3, 2007 in Little Falls Hospital.

He was born on February 4, 1919 in New York City, son of the late Gennaro and Louisa (Landi) Zitoli and educated in and Manhattan and Yonkers, NY schools. On August 9, 1947, Alex was united in marriage with Antoniette Famiglietti in Mt. Carmel Church, Bronx, NY. The couple have built and enjoyed a loving and devoted companionship of 60 years, one that has also been filled with dedication and happiness. A proud United States Army veteran, Alex served during World War II for four years, spending much of his career in Iran. He enlisted on January 8, 1942 and was honorably discharged on January 28, 1946 and was the recipient of the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, and the American Service Medal. He was last employed as a cement mixer operator with Wes-Con Concrete, Tarrytown, NY, retiring in 1982 after many years of loyal and dedicated workmanship. Mr. And Mrs. Zitoli joined their family moving to Little Falls on August 1, 1982 where they have resided ever since. He was devoted to the Catholic faith and attended Holy Family Parish, Little Falls.

Among his pastimes, Alex enjoyed getting together with his buddies to bowl. His greatest pleasure was being in the camaraderie of friends for a round of golf, especially at the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course. Alex's family was the center of his world, and he was always proud of each one of them and their achievements. He was an excellent husband, father and grandfather as well as a conscientious provider for his family instilling in them traditional Italian values and principles.

He leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Antoniette of Little Falls; three sons: Gerald Zitoli and wife Dawn of Little Falls, Michael Zitoli and wife Laurie of Golden, Co., and Joseph Zitoli and wife Lois of Chicago, Ill.; his sister: Anne Sava of New Mexico; grandchildren: Daniel Zitoli, Kristine Richardson and husband Marlon, Alexander Zitoli and Grace and Joseph Zitoli; great-grandchildren: William and Andrew Richardson; many nieces, nephews and cousins; in laws: Dolores and Joe Gariola of Bronx, NY, Carmela Tarbona and husband Sam of Syracuse and Peter Famiglietti of Bronx, NY. He was predeceased by his brothers: Joseph and Dominick Zitoli.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 from 4-7 p.m. Mr. Zitoli's funeral will commence at 11:15 am on Saturday, Dec. 8th from the funeral home and at 12 noon from Holy Family Parish, corner of E. Main and John Streets, Little Falls where the Rev. Anthony Ligato, pastor will celebrate his Mass of Christian Burial. Procession will follow to St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer where he will be laid to rest. Military Honors will be accorded by the U.S. Army. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Holy Family Parish Memorial Fund; envelopes and donations may be made at the funeral home.

The family would like to thank all of their friends and extended family for their love and support during this difficult time. They would also like to extend their gratitude to Rev. Ligato and Sister Marilyn for their prayers and support, as well as Dr. Liu, Dr. Buch and the staff at Tri-County Medical. Additionally, the family would like to extend their deepest thanks and gratitude to the entire staff of the Little Falls Hospital and especially the staff on the fourth floor for their care and compassion for Alex and the entire Zitoli family. The family is truly grateful for all the fourth floor staff has done and for their kindness and dedication.
