Obituary for Brenda Sue Thomas (Furr)

Mrs. Brenda Sue Furr Thomas died very peacefully at her home on Thursday 13, 2011. Born August 26, 1942, she was the daughter of Cliff and Velma Furr of Midland.
Funeral Services will be 11am Monday the 17th of October, 2011 at New Home Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6pm until 8pm Sunday at Morgan & Son.
Brenda graduated from Midland High School in May of 1960 and married Ernest Thomas in June of that same year. They were married for 51 years and were blessed with three children and seven grandchildren.
She had worked in the school cafeteria at New Salem Elementary and also served on the kitchen staff of J.B.’s Seafood for many years.
Brenda Sue was known for her kind and generous spirit, as well as her sense of humor. She loved to cook and prepare special meals for her family. The true joy of her life were her children and grandchildren. She was never too busy for them and spent countless hours playing with her grandchildren. She could always make everyone around her laugh and smile. Anyone who entered her home was made to feel relaxed and welcome.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, P.W. Furr. She is survived by her husband, Ernest Thomas, her children and their spouses; Scotty Thomas (Tina), Skip Thomas (Tammy) both of Peachland and her daughter Kelli Jones (Eugene) of Polkton. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Brandon Thomas and wife Emily of Marshville, Jamie Marie Durham of Wilmington , Katelyn, Lauren and Tyler Thomas, all of Peachland, and Elizabeth and Noah Jones of Polkton. Also surviving is her sister-in-law, Dean Efird and her son Jeff Furr (Alisa) of Stanfield, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Roy & Raeann Thomas and their son Richie (Michelle) and their children, Jayden & Logan, all of Peachland.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to any children’s charity or to Hospice.
